on instantgram i saw this woman putting on makeup with her exceptionally young , probably 6 or 7 year old daughter who copied her routine of like 6 skin products and THICk coverage just to do a simple mascara and red lipstick look and it really struck a nerve with me… i will always be grateful to my mum for as far as i can remember, not wearing makeup save for a cheeky plum lip on occassion thru essentially my entire childhood. it let me kno that that is not what makes a woman. but imagine ur mother was one of these insta ladies, the lessons u would get from observing would be so confusing and damaging and i just dont understand the obsession with covering up perfectly good skin quite so thickly? if you wanted a fun makeup moment with ur little girl like by all means do some lipstick and mascara together! its easy and changes yr face! but this girl like there was something about the look in her face as she was laying on more concealer, more powder…that she was finally seeing herself emerge and i just WISh skin was enough. i love playing around with eyes and lips and drawing on ur face and this blush trend is very cute,,its the Covering,the masking that upsets me..
